At Healthy Love and Money, we believe financial planning and therapy should never be just about the numbers. It’s about people, how they feel, how they relate, and how they heal in the presence of money and the people they care about.

That’s why we’re excited to announce our newest blog series:

How to Be a Financial Therapist

A weekly deep dive into the practice of financial therapy for professionals across disciplines.

Whether you're a financial planner curious about integrating deeper conversations into your practice, a mental health professional wondering how to bring money into the therapy room, or a financial therapist seeking a clearer path forward, this series is for you.

Why This Series, and Why Now?

Financial therapy is gaining attention, but clarity about what it actually means and how to do it well is still elusive. Too many professionals are asking:

  • Am I “allowed” to talk about emotions and money in the same conversation?

  • What if I don’t have a background in therapy or financial planning?

  • How do I build my skills without losing my professional identity?

  • Is there a model or roadmap for this work?

We get it because we’ve been there too.

This series is our way of pulling back the curtain and sharing what we’ve learned at Healthy Love and Money. It’s also a way to invite others into the growing ecosystem of professionals who are redefining how people receive help with their financial lives.

What You Can Expect

Each weekly post will combine:

โœ… Real-world experience from our therapy and planning sessions with individuals and couples
โœ… Research and science from fields like financial therapy, attachment theory, and neurobiology
โœ… Reflection prompts to support your growth and skill development
โœ… Tools and practices we use with clients in our Therapy-Informed Financial Planning™ model
โœ… Insights into working at HL&M for professionals considering joining our mission

Whether you're reading for inspiration, training, or career guidance, we hope this series provides you with both clarity and encouragement.

Why We’re Sharing This Now

At Healthy Love and Money, we’re growing, and we’re looking to grow well.

That means expanding our team with thoughtful, mission-aligned professionals who want to help individuals and couples heal their relationship with money. It also means sharing our philosophy more publicly, to help lead the financial therapy movement with transparency, integrity, and impact.

We want to show what’s possible when financial professionals and mental health professionals come together, not in competition, but in collaboration.
